A Great Way to Spend an Evening or an Afternoon

Seussical is a complex mishmash of Dr. Seuss's most popular books, including Horton Hears a Who, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Lorax, Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! and Green Eggs and Ham.

Hello, Milford Patch! Long time, no see.

I'm here with a suggestion. It's not about views on illegal immigration, hot dogs or random high school books, it's about what you should do on March 16, 17 or 18.

Here it is: go see 's (MHSTW) production of Seussical, written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Friday and Saturday's shows are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday's show is at 2 p.m.

Seussical is a rather complex mishmash of Dr. Seuss's most popular books, including Horton Hears a Who, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Lorax, Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! and Green Eggs and Ham, along with many, many others.

Narrated by the Cat in the Hat (who else?), the story involves JoJo and his thinks, Horton and his speck of dust, and Gertrude and her "one-feathered tail."

And yet, I have not mentioned that it is a musical, hence the name "Seussical." And if you look very closely, sitting to the audience's right of the drum set, all the way in the back of the pit orchestra, you will see playing bari sax. Don't stare though, because you'll miss all the action on stage, and believe me, there is plenty of action. More so, the music is phenomenal, incorporating many styles from gospel to R&B to rock.

I'm a senior this year. This is the fourth musical (well, fifth, but that's another story) that I've been involved with.  The other three were RENT, Miss Saigon, and , all of which blew me away with the talent on stage.

Lastly: tickets. If you would like tickets, you can talk to any member of MHSTW. If you do not know anybody involved in the workshop, you can shoot me an email at daniel@danieldbruce.com and I can help you out.

I promise you will not regret giving up your Friday or Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon. And do me a favor: at intermission, find me (the good-looking, short guy with the chinstrap beard) and let me know that you saw my blog on Patch.
