A Moment of Utopia Splashed Away
I don't ask for much . . . a good meal, a good workout . . . and five minutes of musical utopia in my pool.
Let me start off this blog by saying I love my kids more than anything in the world. They are the wind beneath my wings, the wind in my sails, the stars in the sky, and any other cliche line you can throw in here.
But, as other Dads can probably attest, can't we just get five minutes alone — either physically or mentally? I thought I had that moment on Sunday.
Picture this little bit of utopia — beautiful, sunny day — I'm floating around in my pool on my daughter's pink floatie (I'm married . . . what do I care?) with Zeppelin shuffling on my iPod. My eyes are closing as I'm floating around the pool. Could life get any better than th... SPLASH!!!!!!

My daughter decides it's a good time for her to splash water on me: "I want my floatie back!!!!" Seriously? You couldn't just let me enjoy the moment? Couldn't you have let Kashmir finish???
I really think my kids conspire to determine those moments when their parents are at their most relaxed. This would be a good moment to really splash and get him real upset with us.

A few more quick thoughts while I have your attention:
- Speaking of good meal — a quick update on my blog regarding restaurant allowing smoking on their patio — I sent the owner of the restaurant an email regarding my feelings on the matter as I didn't feel it was right for me to just slam their restaurant without letting them know how I felt. He responded to let me know he would look into the subject and offered me a free order of quesadillas. If nothing else, good customer service. Also, thank you for all of your feedback regarding my blog post on the matter.
- My thoughts and prayers are with my friend Katie who is battling cancer. She will beat this — no doubt in my mind. There is nothing I am more afraid of than that dreaded "C" word. Every individual who battles this disease deserves all the credit in the world.
- Along the same lines — recommended reading — The China Study. There are so many facts about the problems caused by eating animal-based foods, it's scary. I've made the switch. Just fish and veggies for this hombre.
- My head has been in the clouds since coming back from vacation a couple of weeks ago, hence, the lack of blog posts. Maybe the splash of water was good for my blogging psyche. See ya.
