Feeling ‘Thirsty’ in the ‘Canyon’ on a Rainy Day
Note to Milford drivers: is that text message to your boyfriend/girlfriend, spouse, friend worth me diving into someone's lawn for safety?

First things first, I wanted to thank you all for the feedback, good and bad, in my first blog. It feels good that someone is actually reading my writing.
For some of the negative feedback on my grammatical skills – this is a heads up – I write in the spoken word. I’ve been through enough English and journalism classes to understand how to write in the correct grammatical form …
If you don’t like, feel free to move on. I won’t be changing my style. Although I’m not sure it’s enough to hate me. Anger issues much?

Now back to our regularly scheduled blog … Okay, so you are probably reading that title trying to figure out what I am talking about. This brings me to my next point with other random thoughts on this cold, rainy day.
- The held its annual spelling bee on Saturday. Newsflash for people over 30 -- the next generation may not be all that bad. There are still some kids out there who don’t have their heads stuck in a cell phone, iPod, or laptop. Each one of those kids should be proud of their accomplishments. It’s not easy getting up there to of staring eyes. The first graders and second graders were allowed two misspelled words. My second grade daughter competed on Saturday and misspelled “thirsty” and “canyon." I am very proud of her for just competing. The fact that she came in third place was just a bonus.
The fact that she’s competitive like her father and emotional like her mother led to approximately three hours of tears. I am still trying to figure out how to deal with these emotions …

- For my generation, the two greatest movie endings I can think of are the “Karate Kid” (spine tingling moment watching Johnny getting kicked in the face) and “Seven." I remember seeing that movie in college with drool coming out of my mouth just staring at the screen as Brad Pitt is screaming: “What’s in the box? What’s in the $*%&@*% box?"
- Coaching U6 soccer certainly comes with its challenges. I beg and plead with these children to run and pay attention during the games. I beg and plead my own son to not interrupt me as I’m giving a passionate speech (to which no one is listening). I beg and plead for rain on Saturday mornings. (Just kidding … ) My kids are awesome! Go Sharks!
On a side note, I’d like to thank Tony Faath and the rest of the Milford-Hopedale Youth Soccer Association board of directors for all of their tireless work in making the league a fun-filled day for all of the kids in town.
- Note to Milford drivers – is that text message to your boyfriend/girlfriend, spouse, friend, etc. while you are driving worth me diving into someone’s lawn for safety as you are trying to expand the road? I am trying to save my knees and feet, so no, I will not be diving on the sidewalk. And for that woman who tried to take a right on to Congress and almost ran me over by taking a right hand turn without looking left, why were you laughing? Slightly sadistic? This almost called for a change of underwear …
- I will get yelled at for this one later on, but if you know my wife, can you please plead with her to stop eating those Cup of Soups? Some countries are using those ingredients to create bombs …
- To the man in the office behind me, if you are going to make derogatory jokes and speak at a non-acceptable volume, would you mind closing your door? Now it’s time for some sports thoughts …
- When did I stop caring for the Celtics so much? Compared to playoff hockey, playoff basketball is so tedious to watch. Where did team basketball go? One on play isolation plays with the occasional pick and rolls are killing me.
I can’t reveal my sources but I was told Paul Pierce is the nicest guy and the easiest to get an autograph from and Kevin Garnett is as easy to get an autograph from as it is to take a left out of the plaza on to Route 140.
- I fell asleep watching the Sox-Yankees last night. Sacrilegious I know. About 10 years ago, if I fell asleep on the couch it would be a slow falling asleep. Slow enough where I could wake myself up. Now, BAM – hello 4 a.m.
- Why do all of the Milford townies always look at me with that evil glare when I tell them I’m from Framingham? I figured that would be reserved for all of the losers from Natick.
- I got to meet Mary MacDonald at the spelling bee on Saturday. We got into a slight argument when I asked her when do I start getting paid for these blogs. Hello, Mary?
- Are we really going to be skipping spring again this year? Why do I get the feeling it’s going to be 95 degrees out in two weeks?
- Yikes, just got a report request from one of the Executive VP’s – back to work. Hope you enjoy! Talk to you soon …
- Shoot – real quick – is this Sunday. Please help if you can:
