"Lo Flow" should be No Flow
A question of who is telling the truth about Milford's water needs and the impact of the proposed Foxwoods-Milford casino.
With the receipt of my most recent water bill from the Milford Water Company comes the official warning of punitive termination of service should I so much as wash my car using water supplied by the MWC. “Level III Mandatory Water Conservation” is their pitch. Yet only three days earlier the Foxwoods-Milford Resort Casino pitch included a plan, using “lo-flow” appliances, to draw 0.17 million gallons per day just by their phase 1 operation, phase 2 not mentioned. Foxwoods –Milford included in their presentation facts that state MWC is authorized to provide 3.2 million gallons per day, is presently providing 2.63 million gallons per day, and is approved to supply 3.68 million gallons per day…no problem.
Who are the liars here? What is going on? It would seem we are being manipulated by now what appears to be two less than scrupulous businesses that are more than willing to take us in directions favoring only their respective interests. If this doesn’t cast serious doubt on what the future holds for the residents of Milford I do not know what does.
We are stuck with the Milford Water Company. We do not have to be stuck with the Foxwoods-Milford Casino. Neither business deserves our trust, but the obvious says we do need water to live. We do not need a casino to live. As an elected group charged with the responsibility of doing the work of the people, our Board of Selectmen’s path forward should be perfectly clear; kill this casino scam now, then investigate which side of the truth Milford Water Company is operating on.
