Shannon Smith hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first and that’s all Milford needed as they went on the shutout Franklin 6-0. Smith also pitched a complete game allowing 3 hits and striking out 11. Caroline Fairbanks, Smith and Rachel Levine all had doubles as Milford racked up 8 hits for the game. The Scarlet Hawk defense was solid too with many great plays all over the field: Lauren Hanna at second base had a tremendous diving stop and throw out, Lizzie Stallone with a very nice running catch in right and Taylor LeBrun in the top of the seventh with some nifty work behind the plate to preserve the shutout...just to name a few.
