MYFC - What a Weekend!
A proud mom's recap of her last football weekend for the year.
Oh to be a football/cheer mom. It takes a lot of dedication and patience. Even still, it's my favorite time of year, and the season will be missed.
My weekend started Saturday morning getting a VERY excited 7 year old ready for her cheer compitition in Lowell. Milford as a whole did great. U10 and U15 both came in second in their divisions. U12 didn't place, even though every Milforidian that was there thinks they should have. My daughter is a Mighty Mite, so they only went on for exhibit, but with the nerves and excitement, you would think they were trying to place. Both Mighty Mite cheer squads did beautifully.
At about 9:30 pm, cheer parents waited at Fino Field for the buses to pull up, escorded by Milford's finest police officers. You could hear them yelling and cheering as they came down Main St. around the field. You could feel the parental pride as they unloaded the bus to a chanting crowd of "lets go Hawks lets go."

Good luck to the girls going up to regionals.
Today was my son's last Tiny Mite football game for the season. Forever, actually, he moves up to Mighty Mites next season. Today was exciting for them though. A teammate's parents rented a bus for them to ride up to Townsend together. The boys played the North Middlesex Patriots with all the fight they had left in them to end the game in a tie, leaving BOTH teams undefeated for the season.

The game was followed up by a pizza lunch at Coach Scioli's Pizza Bar, his treat. Kids running around the room, watching highlights from the season, cheering each other on as they saw the plays. The coaches were presented with whistles with their names engraved on them as gifts from the players. It was a wonderful end to a great season.
My kids may not play for the NFL. They may not even make Jr. Varsity in high school. But the friends they make and the lessons they learn about winning and losing through out the seasons will be with them forever. So this mom would like to thank the MYFC and all the coaches for giving us such a great league to play for. Go Hawks.
