Rachel Levine wins it for Milford in the Bottom of the 9th
Milford over KP 1-0 in 9 innings
This was the last game played at Milford High School for the seniors and it ended the way it should, with the seniors coming through again.
Rachel Levine ripped a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 9th to beat
arch rival King Phillip 1-0.
It was a pitchers duel but the Milford hitters proved to be too much in the
end. Lauren Hanna lead off the bottom of the ninth with a bunt single, Shannon
Smith followed with a single and Caroline Fairbanks was intentionally walked
bringing up Levine. With a 2-2 count Rachel lined a single to left field scoring
Hanna and giving Milford the win. The KP defense was on, strong play by the KP
third baseman and right fielder robbed both Taylor LeBrun and Allie Piergustavo
of hits that could have helped put Milford on the board earlier in the game. The
Milford battery of Smith and LeBrun was solid for all 9 innings with no wild
pitches or passed balls. Smith ended the game with 15 strikeouts. Hitters for
Milford: Lauren Hanna (single), Shannon Smith ( 2 hits), Caroline Fairbanks
(single), Rachel Levine (single, RBI).
