Really, Autumn?

So, what I wanted to do on this blog is a timeline about this horrific, freak snowstorm that we got from Saturday night until Sunday morning.

Hey there, Milford Patch! Long time, no see!

I know, I know ... I have not blogged since Aug. 24, which is the following:

  • 67 days, or
  • over 9 weeks, or
  • 1,608 hours, or
  • 96,480 minutes

Sorry 'bout that. If you missed me, you should know where you can find me. (My website, danieldbruce.com, is usually a good start. At least my contact info is on there.)

So, what I wanted to do on this blog is a timeline about this horrific, freak snowstorm that we got from Saturday night until Sunday morning. In this post will be my Facebook posts, photo uploads, as well as canceled activities that I was supposed to attend. Here we go:

Oh, wait. I forgot to tell you: it is in fact set up kind of like a police log. Yeah, I meant to do that. Times are approximate, in some instances.

  • 8 p.m., Tuesday or Wednesday, Oct. 25 or 26: I hear somewhere that we are supposed to get snow on Thursday, as well as Saturday. "Yeah right. It's not even Halloween yet." Skip forward to Friday:
  • 7:11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28: I take and post a picture on Facebook of the courtyard at this high school, complete with freshly fallen snow. Yippee!
  • 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28: A picture of me is posted on Facebook, ironing a headband that I would later wear at this year's first pep rally.
  • 11 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29: I post, on Facebook, "First hot, spiced apple cider of the winter ... er, fall ... well, whatever season it is, I always enjoy a hot, spiced apple cider." It was very delicious, as a matter of fact. I suggest trying it sometime. Take some regular apple cider and sprinkle some cinnamon on top. Now throw it in the microwave for something like two minutes. Mmmm ...
  • 12:01 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 30: I think, "Oh darn, I have to be up really early tomorrow because I have a photography job, that starts at 6 a.m., in Cambridge. I should really go to bed."
  • 1:25 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 30: I actually go to bed. And make sure my warm mist humidifier (because the ultrasonic ones get the carpet all wet) is filled up, plugged in and turned on. Therefore, I actually went to bed close to 2 a.m. I do not recommend this.
  • 5:15 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 30: My alarm rings.
  • 5:16 a.m., Sunday Oct. 30: My alarm rings again. Obviously, I turned it off the first time without actually waking up.
  • 5:20 a.m., Sunday Oct. 30: I call the coach of the swim team that I am supposed to do photography for. He tells me that practice is still on — that is, until I let him know that Gov. Deval Patrick declared a state of emergency at 8:45 p.m. the night before.
  • 5:25 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 30: The coach calls me back, letting me know that there is no practice, and therefore no photography job.
  • 5:35 a.m., Sunday Oct. 30: My father yells into my room that he is going out plowing. Since I am already awake, I agree to go out and help.
  • 6 to 9 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 30: I help plow out my father's properties in Holliston.

If I were you, I would really consider trying the spiced, hot apple cider. It is truly scrumptious.

If I left something out, it may have been intentional or general forgetfulness. At some point, I'll get some cool winter storm photos up.

For now, I just want some apple cider.
