I am writing from Long Beach, CA. which, fortunately, is not in Orange County. It may also be the best kept secret about California, especially to me a, a "severe" San Franciscophile. I see many more yard signs for Democrats. More than that, there are six(6) pairs of presidential choices! These are arranged in a strange political affinity, from Right to Left. Curiously, Roseanne Barr and Cindy Sheehan occupy the middle ground in the Peace and Freedom Party and Obama/Biden are next on the Left.
In true CA misuse of propositions, there are 11 statewide issues, 3 county ones and 2 city ones. As in the last election when the state voted against gay marriage, these are not appropriate issues to submit to a popular vote. I am certain that if we in MA were to put the 10 original Federal Amendments to a popular vote, they would all be turned down, excepting the second! With only three really easy ones, I am happier to vote in MA.
I will survey the damage done by Sandy(how silly the name) on Monday when I return to vote. I have reports of a downed fence and branches. The electricity must be on since I see the really poor debater/quitter is visiting us. Did he bring his cadre of out of staters as in 2010?

The Patriots have a strong following here and so do many Eastern football powers. It's great to watch a game and have the rest of the day to go to a park or finish the chores in daylight!
