UPDATE! Community Invited to Attend Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11 at Italian American War Veterans Hall at 11:00 a.m.
All area veterans and residents are invited to attend a special ceremony on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11 on the second floor of the Italian American War Veterans Hall at 11:00 a.m. Please note that this ceremony was originally planned for Draper Park, but the weather forecast led us to choose an indoor location.
Participating in the ceremony will be local veterans, clergy, Scouts, and a soloist from the Milford High School Marching Band. Commander Eric P. Ruscitti and Jr. Vice Commander Tim McDonough, both representing the Italian American War Veterans Milford Post #40, will present the Colors. U.S. Army veteran Dennis “Jack” Candini, who served in the Vietnam War in communications and intelligence roles and has been honored as Grand Marshal of this year’s Veterans Day parade, will lead the remarks. Also speaking in the ceremony are U.S. Army veteran Adam Beard, who served as a combat cavalryman in the Global War Against Terrorism in Iraq; and Deborah and Michael Heaney, the daughter and son-in-law of U.S. Army veteran Lawrence J. Heron, who served in World War II and was severely wounded days after landing on Omaha Beach.
Peter Scandone, who is chairman of the Veterans Day Ceremony committee, will serve as master of ceremonies.
