Spanky's Comedy brings its Fall Series to Pinz Entertainment in Milford on Saturday, October 17, headlined by national touring comedian Amy Tee.
Tee is a Boston Comedy Festival regular who has been featured on SiriusXM Satellite Radio and the LOGO television network, and was named one of the "funniest lesbians in America" by Curve magazine. Her act blends dry wit and boyish charm with unusual candor — she draws openly on her own experience with addiction and recovery and mental health, turning it into comedy with what she calls stigma-busting honesty. Off the stage, she serves as an approved In Our Own Voice (IOOV) presenter for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
She's joined by special guests Emily Ruskowski and Tank, with host Jacques Lambert emceeing the night.
The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 and a cash bar will be available. Doors are at Pinz Entertainment, 110 South Main Street, Milford, MA 01757, the venue also offers bowling, an arcade, laser tag, axe throwing, billiards and a full kitchen, so guests are welcome to make a night of it before the show.

The Greater Milford Community Chorus (GMCC) is officially calling all local singers to join its upcoming 2026 Fall/Winter musical season. Whether you are an experienced choral singer or simply love blending your voice in harmony, the chorus offers a welcoming space to share your passion for music.
The new season officially launches on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Memorial Hall Cultural Center, located at 30 School Street, Milford. Registration opens at 6:30 PM, with the first rehearsal running from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Weekly rehearsals will continue every Monday evening at the same time and location.
For potential new members who want to experience the group before committing, GMCC is hosting three Open Rehearsals. Interested singers are invited to attend and sit in on weekly sessions on August 31, September 14, and September 21.
While formal auditions are not required to join, the chorus asks that members possess a fundamental understanding of music, pitch matching, and a firm commitment to attending the weekly rehearsals to benefit the group's collective sound. Members are from numerous towns across the Greater Milford and MetroWest regions.
The seasonal membership registration fee is $25. There is also a $20 cash-only music deposit, which is fully refundable when clean, unmarked sheet music is returned at the conclusion of the concert season. Returning members from the previous season are asked to arrive early on the opening night to return their past music. Current members can already access digital PDF files of the upcoming repertoire via the Member’s Only portal on the chorus website.
The hard work of the rehearsal season will culminate in three high-profile winter performances held in the Grand Ballroom Auditorium at Milford Town Hall, 52 Main Street, Milford:

·GMCC Holiday Concert (Matinee): Sunday, December 6, 2026, at 1:30 PM
·Holiday Pops with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra:

The Friends of the Milford Town Library welcome author Anne Marie Murphy for a book talk on her recently published, A Proper Fit: Women at Work in a City of Corsets. The twenty-first century has seen the emergence of the corset as haute couture, red carpet finery. A Proper Fit tells only part of the story of the garment’s evolution and its importance to large groups of women in a New England city.
For Anne Marie Murphy, what began as curiosity about one female business owner from 1904, became an exploration of a huge industry in Worcester, Massachusetts: corset making. From the Civil War to the 1980s, the city was home to an astounding 126 corset-related businesses. Women were at the helm of half of them. The industry created a wealth of female self-employment opportunities long before American women had the right to vote. One woman, in particular, operated at the highest level—factory owner Mary Heintzelman Gifford Bowne. How did she learn the trade? How did she become a world famous corset designer? And, how did she fare as a female factory owner in the U.S. in that era?
A Proper Fit highlights Mary’s story as well as those of other women who supported themselves through long-term relationships with clients who came to them for this bespoke foundation garment. The city was filled with corset makers, at large factories and small shops where “corsetieres” made garments from scratch or as customized versions of mass-produced products. In addition to Mary, the manufacturing executive, we meet a downtown corsetiere with grocery store experience, the widow of a corset “cutter” who struck out on her own, and a factory forewoman who parlayed her experience into decades of downtown retailing. The Burnside and Slater Buildings on Main Street became hubs with fourteen corsetieres from wildly different back-grounds. Through the makers we learn about the garment itself—how it was made, worn, and sold to the American woman.
As a leading New England industrial city, Worcester, Massachusetts, “would be a great place for any ambitious young businesswoman to set up shop, especially a corset-making one,” Anne Marie Murphy reminds us. A deep dive into the history of both a garment and a city, A Proper Fit is a fascinating visit to a once-thriving industry driven and supported by thousands of women in a city of innovation, diversity, access, and opportunity.&nbsp;
Anne Marie Murphy, previously lived in Milford and served on the Board of Library Trustees. She founded Eastern Script in 1993, the first script clearance house to exist outside of Los Angeles County. Eastern Script maintains offices in Worcester, Masschusetts and Kingston, Ontario.&nbsp;
