Can, Bottle Drive Will Help Milford High School Musicians

If you have some bottles and cans left from the coronavirus redemption stoppage, bring them to the recycling center.

MILFORD, MA — Your empty cans and bottles can help a budding local musician.

The nonprofit Milford Parents For Music and the Milford High School music teachers are hosting a fundraiser at a Route 16 redemption center this weekend. Students will collect cans and bottles to capture the 5 cent refund, putting it back into music programming.

Milford High School musicians put on all sorts of programming during the school year, from playing during theater performances to ceremonies for holidays like Veterans Day.

Redemption centers and machines across the state were shut down after the coronavirus pandemic broke out in March. But redemptions were allowed to resume on June 5. There are limits on returns at 120 bottles or cans.

The music fundraiser will take place at the Tran redemption center, 161 E. Main St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Donors don't have to worry about sorting bottles and cans — students will be available to do the work in exchange for the donation.
