Celebrate Milford Event On Schedule For May 18

This is the fourth year of the Celebrate Milford event.

MILFORD, MA — The fourth annual Celebrate Milford event is ready and right around the corner. Members from the Celebrate Milford Committee joined the Board of Selectmen meeting Monday night to say the event is on track for May 18. The permits and licenses for vendors, the parade and bounce houses are all cleared, now they are just hoping for clear skies.

Celebrate Milford is an annual event that started three years ago to bring fun to the community. The festival is held in the Milford Town Park area and attracts 12,000 visitors each year from Milford and surrounding communities, according to the Celebrate Milford organization. The festival is a one-day event that features a parade, local vendors, bounce houses for kids, live music and games.

The Celebrate Milford Committee told the Board of Selectmen that this year there is a record number of vendors, so many that they had to close out the list to manage them all. The kids zone will also feature some expanded attractions although the committee kept those a surprise. The committee hopes to have a helicopter on display from the National Guard but is still waiting on confirmation.

Selectmen were excited about the event, mentioning the joy it brought them in previous years. "It's just a great family day," Chairman William Buckley said. Last year's event saw some rain, but Selectman William Kingkade said it didn't dampen the fun he had. "Even last year getting a little wet, it was a lot of fun, you guys do a ton of work," he said.

Selectman Michael Walsh highlighted that the event draws a big crow to the town. "It's amazing the number of people it draws," he said.
