Drunken Milford Man Crashes Car, Tries Leaving Scene: Police

A witness chased the man down and brought him back to the area of the crash until police got there.

MILFORD, MA — A Milford man was charged with driving under the influence and without a license, among other things on Saturday night. Police said Elvin Quinonez hit a parked car and then a stone wall on Claflin Street while driving drunk. A witness to the crash told police Quinonez tried to run from the scene after he hit the wall.

Police said Quinonez crashed his Mercedes into a parked car on Claflin Street and the owner of the car watched it happen. After swiping the back and left side of the car, Quinonez hit a stone wall where he stopped. A witness who owned the car said he saw Quinonez get out of the car and run from the crash and he took off after him. According to the report, the witness brought Quinonez back and told him to sit on the stone wall until police got there.

When police first questioned Quinonez, he told them he didn't know how many drinks he'd had and that his right tire fell off of the car, causing him to crash into the parked car, according to the report. Police did see a tire off of Quinonez's car.

He agreed to take a breathalyzer test and had a blood alcohol content of 0.20. According to the report, he also failed the field sobriety test.

Police arrested Quinonez and charged him with OUI, driving without a license and attempting to leave the scene of property damage.
