Candlelight Vigil for Tony Eng at Royal Buddha Restaurant

Longtime customers of Royal Buddha Restaurant are planning a candlelight vigil to remember its owner and founder, Tony Eng.

He opened Royal Buddha 27 years ago.

Because many people from Milford could not attend his Boston funeral services, vigil organizer Domingos DeCastro said he reached out to the Eng family and asked if it would be all right to hold a candlelight vigil to remember him at the restaurant.

The family agreed, and plans to attend, as well, DeCastro said.

The event is public and is scheduled at 9 p.m Saturday. A Facebook page has been set up and already more than 100 people say they will attend.

According to the event description: "The Vigil will give us an opportunity to pay our last respects to Tony. Please bring a candle to the event as there will be a limited supply. After the moment of silence we will move into the Buddha, have a drink, tell stories, share memories of Tony, and how he impacted our lives."
