Guest conductor and composer Thomas Hojnacki makes his annual guest appearance on the CHSO podium, and has crafted an entertaining and exciting program that will be made up exclusively of famous orchestral overtures.
Hojnacki has chosen the Samuel Barber “Overture to the School for Scandal,” and Johannes Brahms beloved Academic Festival Overture, both of which were written as “stand alone’ concert works. Rossini’s popular William Tell Overture, (better known today as the theme to The Lone Ranger) will be on the program, as well of several prelude overtures from the operas of Richard Wagner and Guiseppe Verdi. Russian composer Glinka’s “Russlan and Ludmilla” and Bernstein’s Overture to “Candide” round out the program.
