MILFORD, MA — A patriotic display will return to downtown Milford this fall, coinciding with a revamp of Draper Memorial Park.

The "Field of Flags" display will be installed at the under-renovation park beginning in October. For a $20 donation, residents can sponsor a flag at the downtown park, which can be flown in honor of a veteran or any member of the military.

"Each flag honors the heroism of our many local veterans and active duty service members," Field of Flags Chair Peter Scandone said in a news release. "Our goal is to have every one of the flags renewed and to gather enough new flag sponsorships so that we will be installing even more flags this fall."

Previous iterations of the Field of Flags — which went on hiatus in 2020 during the pandemic — have seen nearly 200 flags installed downtown. Proceeds from the sponsored flags will mostly go to the Milford Corps of the Salvation Army, and a smaller portion will go to Citizens for Milford to help with the cost of supplies. Volunteers from Milford Federal Bank and the Milford Junior Woman’s Club help install and take down the flags.

Flags will begin to be installed the week of Oct. 13 and will be flown until Nov. 17. To sponsor a flag, contact Citizens for Milford a citizensformilford@gmail.com. Sponsorships must be received by Oct. 8.
