Flutie Foundation, Milford Schools Focus Of Jersey Mike's Grand Opener

A grand opening week begins Monday morning with a free sub promotion that will raise money for the local organizations.

MILFORD, MA — The grand opening this week of a new Milford sub shop will benefit local students and the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.

Milford's new Jersey Mike's location will kick off a grant opening week Monday morning by giving away 7,500 cards for free subs. Each person who gets a free sub will be asked to donate $3 to the organizations.

Any money raised this week will go back to Milford Public Schools and the Flutie foundation. The foundation on Monday will also present a technology grant to the Milford Public Schools.

Flutie — famous for a successful 64-yeard hail mary pass during a 1984 Boston College game — and his wife, Laurie, started the foundation in 1998 after their 3-year-old son was diagnosed with autism.

The new Jersey Mike's in Milford is located at 128 Medway Road. The local owner is Brian O'Loughlin, who has also opened several other Massachusetts locations of the New Jersey-based chain.
