Former Hawk Wins Northeast-10 Conference MVP

Bryant Johnson takes home prestigious NE-10 award.

Former Milford Scarlet Hawk quarterback took home the Northeast-10 Conference's top honor Nov. 17 after being unanimously selected as the MVP of the NE-10. Johnson, a senior at Bentley University, was a clear cut favorite to win the award and becomes the first Falcon to do so since Marc Eddy won his second straight MVP honor in 2004.

Though the season didn't go as hoped for the Falcons (6-4), Johnson did lead them to a four-game winning streak and was the main reason for the team's end-of-the-year success. Johnson, who graduated from in 2007, threw for 2,161 yards this season and 18 touchdowns. He also ran for five touchdowns and was second in the NE-10 in total offense, averaging 264 yards per game. Johnson also set a school record for completion percentage, sporting a NE-10 Conference best: .659.

Johnson's career at Bentley is not over, though, as he will look to come back for another year, not only to play football, but to pursue his master's degree. Johnson red-shirted as a freshmen because two junior quarterbacks were ahead of him in playing time, and decided to forego football that year. His decision paid off, as he has certainly enjoined picking apart NE-1O defenses this season.

Next year, Johnson will get to build on his career resume of 5,055 passing yards and 40 touchdowns, while hopefully leading the team back to an 8-2 record and the championship just like in his junior year.

Johnson was also named to the 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Football All-Conference First Team Offense.

Watch out for this former Hawk terrorizing the air of the NE-10 Conference next year, as Bentley looks to return stronger next season behind their MVP-caliber quarterback.
