One Person Hospitalized After Hazmat Incident In Milford
The victim suffered chemical burns and was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center, the building was evacuated.

MILFORD, MA- One person was hospitalized after a hazmat incident at Milford's Nitto Avecia facility on Fortune Boulevard Friday.
Milford fire officials said the call came in around 11:30 a.m. about a hazmat situation at the facility, the building was evacuated. Fire Chief William Touhey told the Milford Daily News that a technician was splashed with acid while taking apart a pressurized hose.
The victim was burned and taken to the hospital, according to a spokesman for the state hazardous materials and emergency response team.

The statewide hazmat team was called and an ambulance was at the facility on standby as per protocol fire officials said.
Nitto Avecia is an oligonucleotide development and manufacturing company. Avecia produces oligonucleotides that are used as Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) in genetic testing, research and forensic. The Milford location is Avecia's corporate headquarters and according to the company website was FDA inspected.
