MILFORD, MA — A red-tailed hawk is "struggling, but hanging in there" after police rescued it from the grille of a vehicle over the weekend.
According to a post on its Facebook page, Milford police said the hawk got stuck in the grille of a Honda SUV on Route 295 in Milford when the bird flew in front of her and hit the car.

Two people tried to help the driver free the bird at a gas station nearby, but the hawk's sharp break made it too difficult.
Using a thick blanket and gloves, firefighters were able to get the hawk unstuck. They named the hawk Hermione and the young man and woman who helped the bird initially brought her to Tufts Wildlife Clinic. The extent of the hawk's injuries are unknown, but doctors at Tufts are optimistic about her recovery.
