Interns From Milford HS Head To Waters Corporation This Summer

Milford High School has partnered with a local company to provide internships.

MILFORD, MA—Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kevin McIntyre on Thursday announced that a new summer internship program with Milford-based Waters Corporation has been established for eligible students who attend Milford High School.

This partnership allows for high academic performing students who plan to major in one of the lab sciences in college to gain valuable work experience in this arena.

Waters Corp holds worldwide leading positions in complementary analytical technologies including liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, rheometry and microcalorimetry. They develop innovative analytical science solutions to support customer discoveries, operations, performance, and regulatory compliance.

The goal of the summer internship program is to help students who are interested in the sciences gain a meaningful work experience that will help them build their resumes, hone their resume and interviewing skills, gain real-world knowledge of the industry, and network with industry professionals.

“This summer internship program with Waters is a terrific opportunity for our eligible high school students to be able to explore science-based careers at a global leader in the analytical instruments industry –right in their own backyard," said Dr. McIntyre in the press release. “Any professional internship programs that we can expose students to will only help them to build a successful future.”

Joseph Morais, Chair of the Milford School Committee, echoed those sentiments in the release: “We are thrilled that Milford High School was selected to pilot this new internship program with Waters Corporation. This new program takes learning beyond the classroom and presents a great opportunity for our students. This collaboration between the Milford public schools, Waters Corp. and the Blackstone Valley Education Foundation is a great example of schools and businesses working together to benefit students and employers."
