Local Charity Collecting Care Packages For Troops And Veterans

MILFORD, MA- Thanks to Yanks non-profit is hosting a care package collection and packaging event.

Care packages will be made and sent to troops deployed over seas and gift bags will be given out to veterans in nursing homes, long-term care facilities and transitional living centers. The organization is welcoming all residents to bring some hometown love troops and veterans. You can write Valentine's Day cards at the event or bring your own pre-written cards.

Donations are also welcome and the list includes:

• chapstick
• emery boards
• combs/hair brushes
• individual size kleenex & hand lotions
• current magazines
• playing cards
• puzzle books
• beef jerky
• nuts
• gum
• hard candy
• 2 ply toilet paper

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 12 at the Italian America Veterans Club.

Thanks To Yanks is a local nonprofit charity, with a mission to support military members, veterans and their families in Milford. The organization conducts needs assessments and ongoing discussions with many sources directly involved with military, veterans and their families, to identify areas where there are gaps in service and maximize support.
