Local Groups Collaborate On Town Government Workshop

Groups hope to recruit new town meeting members

MILFORD – The Milford Democratic Town Committee, Milford Republican Town Committee, and Massachusetts Pirate Party are coming together to host a free information session on how to get involved in town government.

The workshop will be held Saturday, November 18, from 1 to 4 pm in the Milford Town Library’s Granite Room. Topics covered will include running for town meeting, writing warrant articles, applying for town boards, and running for state and local office. A number of speakers involved in state and local government are scheduled to present, including state representative Brian Murray, Architectural Access Board member Harold Rhodes, and Milford finance committee member Michael Soares.

Town meeting member Bryan Cole was inspired to organize the event after attending a similar workshop in Cambridge last fall.

“I’ve had a lot of people tell me they want to get more involved,” Cole said. “This was something that really showed me how easy it is to get started.”
