Milford Area Gets New Coronavirus Test Site

The CVS-run testing site will open on Friday, and is one of 26 across Massachusetts.

MILFORD, MA — The first CVS-run coronavirus testing site will open in the Milford area on Friday at the pharmacy chain's Pulaski Boulevard store in Bellingham.

The Bellingham testing site is one of five opening Friday across Massachusetts. CVS wants to open 1,000 sites across the U.S. with a goal of processing 1.5 million tests per month, according to the Rhode Island-based company.

So far, the closest CVS testing site to Milford was in either Worcester or Wrentham. Milford Regional Hospital is also offering drive-thru testing to some local residents. As of Wednesday, 609 Milford residents had testing positive for the virus during the pandemic. About 2,800 town residents have been tested.

CVS is offering "self-swab" coronavirus tests, where patients will be given a test in the drive-thru lane that they will administer in their car.

"Patients will be required to stay in their cars and will be directed to the pharmacy drive-thru, where they will be provided with a test kit and given instructions, and a CVS Pharmacy team member will observe the self-swab process to ensure it is done properly," the company said in a news release. "Tests will be sent to an independent, third-party lab for processing and the results will be available in approximately three days."
