Citizens for Milford is planning the Second Annual Milford Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in Draper Memorial Park on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016.

MILFORD, MA — Citizens for Milford is planning the Second Annual Milford Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in Draper Memorial Park on the evening of Friday, Dec. 2. All Milford residents are invited to arrive at 6:30 p.m. for cookies and hot chocolate. The ceremony will start at 7 p.m. This community event is free and open to everyone.

Event chairperson Peter Scandone says, “Most Milford residents know that the Christmas tree we planted last year succumbed to the drought and was removed from Draper Park this summer. So, we are very excited to report that a local business owner, David Sanchez of Busy Bee Landscaping & Construction, has offered to purchase and plant a new evergreen tree in time for this year’s Christmas Tree Lighting. Mr. Sanchez is covering all costs himself as his own way of giving back to the town.”

Highlights of this year’s event will include holiday music played by a five-piece brass ensemble of Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra musicians, as well as a special visit from Santa Claus and the opportunity for families to take their own photos with him.
