Milford Driver Hops Out Of Moving Car After Accident

The car hit an oncoming car on Fruit Street, took out a street sign and was eventually stopped but rocks and bushes.

MILFORD, MA — A car accident in Milford on Saturday night ended with one of the drivers hopping out of their moving car and a street sign knocked over. Police said the crash happened at the intersection of Fruit Street and South Main Street on Saturday night. One of the drivers involved in the accident was taken to the hospital — no arrests were made but one of the drivers was issued a summons.

According to the accident report, a driver in a Mercedes-Benz was traveling down Fruit Street when she failed to stop at the sing posted at the intersection of Fruit Street and South Main Street. The report noted that the stop sign has red blinking lights attached to it as well. When she crossed the intersection, the Mercedes hit an oncoming Volkswagen that had two people inside. The Volkswagen had the right of way, according to the report.

After the Mercedes hit the oncoming car it continued moving down Fruit Street where it took out a street sign. The driver jumped out of the moving car, according to the report, and the car stopped when it hit some rocks and bushes on Fruit Street.

The driver of the Mercedes, who hopped out of the moving car, was taken to UMass Hospital for minor injuries. She was given a summons for driving without a license and failing to yield and stop at a stop sign.
