Milford Fire Chief William Touhey To Retire
Milford Fire Chief William Touhey Jr. joined the department 42 years ago and became chief in 2014.

MILFORD, MA — After 42 years on the job, Milford Fire Chief William Touhey Jr. will retire in May.
Touhey announced his retirement in a letter sent to the Board of Selectmen on Feb. 5. Touhey joined the department in the early 1980s, and served alongside his father, son, and brother.
"I have given considerable thought tot his decision and feel the time is right," he wrote in his retirement letter. "This was a very difficult decision to make as I have truly enjoyed my 42 years with the department.

"I leave knowing that the department is in good hands. We are fortunate to have a number of qualified members ready to advance in rank and assume new positions," he continued.
Touhey has was appointed chief by the Board of Selectmen in 2014, and was a deputy chief for 13 years before that. Touhey's last day will be May 16.
