Milford Man Faces Fourth OUI Charge With Children In Car: Police

MILFORD, MA — A Milford man faces multiple charges after police said officers stopped an erratically driven vehicle with two young children inside Saturday night.

Max Melendez Escobar, 38, charged with operating under the influence as a fourth offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, child endangerment while OUI and a marked lanes violation, according to Milford police.

The Milford Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call at about 9:59 p.m. Aug. 8 reporting a gray Hyundai Elantra operating erratically near Purchase Street’s Tyler Street area, police said.

Patrol officers stopped the vehicle at about 10:03 p.m. after observing several marked lane violations, according to police. Officers found two young juvenile passengers inside the vehicle during the stop.

“This arrest is especially troubling given the presence of two young children inside the vehicle,” Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino said. “Driving under the influence puts everyone at risk, but allegedly doing so with children in the vehicle shows a disturbing disregard for their safety.”

Tusino thanked the motorist who called 911 and the officers who intervened.
