MILFORD, MA — Milford police will co-host a local event this weekend that's part of a national initiative to emphasize the connection between police and members of local churches.

Saturday's "Faith & Blue" event at Plains Park will feature a screening of the movie "Courageous," a 2011 Christian-focused drama about police officers in Georgia. The movie is being rereleased in October with new footage to mark its 10th anniversary.

The Milford event is being organized by officers Joseph Francesconi and Patrick Crosson, Deputy Chief John Sanchioni, and Bethany Community Church. The federal First Responder Network Authority (FirstNET) board and the Milford Police Association are funding the event, according to Milford Chief James Falvey.
