Milford Police Warn Residents About Jewelry Scam
Police said they are investigating cases involving the sale of fake jewelry.
MILFORD, CT — The police department has issued a warning to the community about a scam involving fake jewelry.
"In many instances a random person will attempt to sell fake jewelry or use sleight of hand to steal a victim's pre-existing jewelry off of them," police wrote in a Facebook post.
"Through our investigation we’ve noticed that the incidents in Milford and surrounding communities have many similarities. The suspects are believed to be Eastern European in descent and are either driving a vehicle with out of state registration plates or have someone waiting for them in a vehicle with out of state registration."

Police asked the community to be vigilant. If you are approached by someone on the street who is selling jewelry or attempting to put an item on your person, please call 911 immediately.
