MILFORD, MA — Milford Regional Medical Center has hundreds of volunteers helping patients daily many of which are students. As the hospital prepares to say goodbye to those headed off to college, it awarded one special volunteer the Perry Volunteer Scholarship for $500.

This year's Perry Volunteer Scholarship was awarded to Madeline “Maddie” Richard of Milford. Richard started volunteering at Milford Regional in the summer of 2016 and has stayed with the hospital until summer 2018. Richard plans to study biology at the College of the Holy Cross. Her work at Milford Regional will come in handy as Richard hopes to become a doctor after school.

The Perry Volunteer Scholarship is named after two former Milford Regional volunteers, Bill and Anne Perry. The Perrys volunteered at the hospital for nearly 20 years. Serving the hospital in the mail room and coffee shop, Bill came into contact with many patients, family and staff members.
