Milford Regional Hires New Breast Center Medical Director

The Breast Center's new medical director was previously a breast and endocrine surgeon at Georgetown University Hospital.

MILFORD, MA- Milford Regional Medical Center welcomed Dr. Diana Caragacianu as the new Medical Director of The Breast Center.

Dr. Caragacianu was a respected breast and endocrine surgeon at Georgetown University Hospital before coming to Milford Regional. She is considered a leader in high-risk screening and genetics. Her advanced training includes fellowships in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute and breast surgery at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School. She further enhanced her skills with specialized international training in intraoperative radiation for breast cancer and oncoplastic surgery.

In a statement on Milford Regional's website, Dr. Caragacianu is described as having a glowing reputation as an advocate for patients. The Breast Center at Milford regional is nationally accredited and the hospital hopes that under Dr. Caragacianu's leadership patients will get an individualized, multi-disciplinary team approach for all screening, diagnostic, high-risk evaluation and cancer treatment needs and, when necessary, a seamless collaboration with Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center at Milford Regional.

"There is so much beauty in being a source of strength and hope during a patient's initial diagnosis of cancer, recovery from surgery, or even through a benign process, and continuously being part of many patients' lives years later to celebrate their life and survivorship," Dr. Caragacianu said in the statement.
