Milford Regional Recognized By Red Cross For Blood Donations

MILFORD, MA- Milford Regional Medical Center was recognized by The American Red Cross for collecting more than 1,000 units of blood in 2018 at the hospital’s Blood Donor Center.

The hospital's dedicated donor space opened in February 2017 and has since enabled the Red Cross to run scheduled blood drives three or four times a month, as well as additional drives when a special need for red cells occurs on short notice.

Milford Regional transfuses about 3,000 red cells annually. Through the Red Cross’s “Blood Drive Partner Journey” blood donor partners are able to know where their collections have been used.

Through the journey program, the hospital found that blood products collected at Milford Regional in November were used at Lahey Clinic, Salem Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, Elliott Hospital,Tufts Medical Center, South Shore Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Catholic Medical Center, VA Medical Center, West Roxbury VA, White River Junction, Children’s Hospital, Exeter Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
