Milford’s Ashley Aldrich To Be Honored At Celtics Game
Ashley Aldrich will be honored as a "Hero Among Us."
MILFORD, MA- Ashley Aldrich is Milford's sports star that people can't get enough of. The special olympics athlete is being honored by the Massachusetts State Lottery and the Boston Celtics as a "Hero Among Us."
Aldrich, 29, made headlines last month when she was chosen to compete in the NBA Cares Special Olympics Unified Basketball Game at NBA All-Star weekend. Aldrich was one of 12 Special Olympics athletes from across the world selected to play. She was coached that weekend by her favorite basketball player, Kyrie Irving.
Aldrich plays point guard on the Special Olympics’ Milford Masters team. She was taught the sport by her father, who died eight years ago.

Aldrich was born with a severe spinal condition, but despite enduring a 13-hour surgery, she completed months of strenuous rehab to return to the court with her teammates. For her inspiring efforts to become a championship athlete, Aldrich will be honored as a Hero Among Us.
The Heroes Among Us program has recognized outstanding individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to their communities. The award is presented at every Celtics home game and pays tribute to the heroic achievements of these outstanding citizens.
