MILFORD, MA — A school in Milford will continue its after-school math tutoring program next school year with help from a new grant.
The After School Math Tutoring Club at Stacy Middle School will continue during the 2026-27 school year, Milford Public Schools announced on Monday. The district received $29,588.87 from the Community Foundation for MetroWest to support the program.
The money will support 40 students in grades 6-8 with targeted, small-group math instruction outside regular school hours.

The grant marks the fourth straight year the Community Foundation for MetroWest has supported the program. In that time, the After School Math Tutoring Club has received nearly $130,000 from the foundation, according to the district.
The program provides participating students with about 45 additional hours of math instruction during the school year through a virtual tutor, Deputy Superintendent Kerry Taylor said in the announcement.

“Students who participate in this program not only strengthen their mathematical understanding, but also build confidence and perseverance,” Taylor said.
The grant continues a partnership that includes SAGA Education, which provides high-impact tutoring. Volunteer tutors trained through SAGA Connect, the organization’s online tutoring platform, will work directly with students to help close learning gaps and build foundational math skills, according to the district.
Community Foundation for MetroWest Executive Director Jay Kim said the foundation is supporting the program through its Equity in Education Action Project.
“As we enter our fourth year of this partnership, we are energized by the progress we've seen among students participating in the After School Math Tutoring Club at Stacy Middle School,” Kim said.
Stacy Middle School Principal Caridad Lopez said the program has helped students make academic gains and develop greater confidence in math.
