Milford Stabbing Death: Victim Identified, Suspect Update

MILFORD, MA—The victim whose body was found in an apartment in Milford on Sunday has been identified.

Geraldo Carlos Do Amaral, 48, was found dead of apparent stab wounds.

The man wanted in connection with the stabbing death of Amaralwas arrested in New Jersey, state police there said Tuesday afternoon. Jusselo Dias Dos Reis, 44, of Brazil was wanted for allegedly stabbing a 42-year-old man in Milford on Sunday.

Massachusetts State Police alerted New Jersey State Police that Dias Dos Reis was possibly in the state. An investigation revealed he was staying at a Newark residence on Vincent Street. Police arrested him without incident on Monday.

A warrant had been issued for his arrest for aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.The Department of Homeland Security informed law enforcement that Dos Reis is believed to have illegally entered the United States “without inspection."

According to the Worcester County DA, there was no Portuguese interpreter available for Dos Reis’ court appearance in New Jersey on Wednesday, so his case was continued to a future date. It is unclear when he may be brought back to Massachusetts. He remains in custody in New Jersey.
