Milford Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch Sunday Evening

Milford is under a severe thunderstorm watch through 11 p.m. Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service. The areas at highest risk for these storms are north of the Massachusetts Turnpike.

The storms are likely to develop between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning according to the NWS. The weather will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 72 and a southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. wind gusts could get as high as 23 miles-per-hour. The chance of precipitation is 40% with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

The NWS reminds residents if you are outside and hear thunder you are close enough to get struck by lightening and should head to an indoor shelter immediately.
