Milford Woman Aims to Keep PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge Winner Title

Jeannette Thomas is returning champion of a special volunteer competition supporting the ultimate winners with the PGA TOUR -- charity.

As many of the nation’s best golfers prepare for the Deutsche Bank Championship to be held in Norton from August 31 – September 5, 2016, Jeannette Thomas of Milford, Mass., is returning champion of a special volunteer competition supporting the ultimate tournament winners -- charities.

As part of the cart services committee, Jeannette will transport players and fans throughout the grounds at TPC Boston. As an employee at EMC, Jeannette is allowed days off for volunteering, and she chooses to spend the time at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Last year was her first time volunteering with the PGA TOUR, and the excitement onsite as well as the chance to help charity are drawing her back to the tournament this summer.

She finds satisfaction in knowing that her dedication to the tournament translates into funds for the Tiger Woods Foundation. So, last year when Jeannette learned of an opportunity to support charity through the PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge, sponsored by Myrbetriq® (mirabegron), she jumped at the chance to participate. After winning the competition in 2015, she is back on the campaign trail encouraging votes and hoping to recapture victory.

The PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge is a friendly competition designed to raise funds for non-profit organizations while recognizing the talent, passion and commitment of PGA TOUR volunteers in communities nationwide. The Deutsche Bank Championship is one of 16 tournaments hosting the Volunteer Challenge during the 2016 season.

As part of the program, volunteers ask friends and family to vote at PGATOUR.com/volunteers, and when voting ends on September 4, the volunteer with the most votes will earn the chance to present a $10,000 check to the Tiger Woods Foundation. In addition, top-ranking tournaments can earn additional charitable funds based on the total number of votes earned collectively by volunteers and the tournament – up to $60,000.

“It’d be a thrill to win the Volunteer Challenge again and present a check to such a worthwhile organization like the Tiger Woods Foundation, which helps students in need throughout the country,” said Jeannette. “I had wonderful support from friends, family and colleagues in 2015 and hope to gather enough votes to keep the title.”

Jeannette is one of 1,400 volunteers at the local tournament. As an avid golfer, Jeannette participates in a women’s golf league and often plays the game with her husband.
