MILFORD, MA — A Milford woman is facing disorderly conduct and assault charges after police said she yelled a racist slur at two men Saturday and spit at one of them. The outburst happened outside of the Turtle Tavern bar on Main Street, police said. Police had to ask the woman multiple times to cooperate when they got on scene, according to a police report.

A police officer noticed a group of people congregating in front of the bar around 1:44 a.m. on Saturday and walked over to see what happened. A man waved over the officer and told him a woman spit on him and called him the n-word, according to the report. The officer noted in the report that the man was of African-American descent and he pointed out the woman in question, identified as Jennifer Kelley.

When the officer tried to ask Kelley about what happened she continuously yelled that she didn't do anything wrong and that she was going home, at one point she yelled that the officer was harassing her, according to the report. As the officer tried to speak with the victim, Kelley continued to try to argue with him and the officer had to tell her multiple times to wait against the building, according to the report. The officer noted that Kelley appeared to be "very intoxicated."

One of the victims told the officer that Kelley had spit on him and called him a racial slur while they were inside of the bar. An employee at the bar told the officer he witnessed Kelley slap another man while outside of the bar, according to the report. The employee, who was manning the door of the establishment, told Kelley to leave and when she refused, she called the man she had slapped the n-word and attempted to jump over the employee to slap the man again.

She was asked to leave again and stopped to grab her things from inside the bar, according to the report. While inside she tried to take a beer from one of the tables and when the employee snatched it back out of her hands, she spit something into one hand and blew it into the crowd , according to the report. The employee had to physically pock up Kelley and place her outside of the bar where he told police she continued to cause problems with people until officers arrived, according to the report. She tried to enter a conversation with a group, including the man she had slapped earlier — and when she was dismissed by the group, she slapped the man a second time, police said.
