Milford's Waters Corp., Not Quite Fortune 500, Makes Top 1,000

MILFORD, MA — Milford's Waters Corporation fell short of the Fortune 500 list but still made it onto the top 1,000 list. Waters was one of 34 Massachusetts based companies that made it on the list of top 1,000.

Waters made the cut, ranking 875, down a few pegs from its previous rank of 872. The company's revenues are listed at $2,419.9 million with a profit of $593.8 million. Waters employs over 7,000 people, according to Fortune. Waters is an analytical laboratory instrument and software company.

Fortune Magazine released its annual list of the 500 top companies in America, which represent two-thirds of the U.S. GDP and have a total of $13.7 trillion in revenue, the magazine says. Of those 500 companies, 16 are based in Massachusetts.

Fortune said it ranks companies by total revenue. Overall, Walmart topped the 2019 list, followed by Exxon Mobil and Apple. Berkshire Hathaway and Amazon ranked No. 4 and No. 5, rounding out the top five spots on the list.

To put the list in context, Fortune writes that just a tenth of the companies on the list are responsible for nearly half of the total $13.7 trillion in revenue. (You can read more in detail about the list via Fortune here.)
