MILFORD, MA — The spring Town Meeting that was supposed to get underway this week has been pushed back until the end of June.

The Milford Board of Selectmen on April 13 voted to postpone the May 18 Town Meeting, but did not pick a date. Now, the town is planning to hold the meeting on June 29 beginning at 7 p.m.

Virtually every town meeting scheduled for this spring in Massachusetts has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. The new date selected by Milford falls within Phase 3 of the state's reopening, a plan outlined by Gov. Charlie Baker on Monday.

As of the state's last case update on May 14, Milford had counted 525 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. When the Milford Selectmen voted to postpone Town Meeting in April, Milford had only counted 18 cases.

Milford's spring election has also been postponed until June 16. The town has reduced the number of polling places and cut down on voting hours in the hopes that Milford residents will vote by mail.
