One Killed After Leaving Vehicle on Route 495

Police say a man from Bristol, CT was killed after leaving his vehicle on Route 495 South in Milford.

One man is dead after an argument and accident on Route 495 in Milford.

Just after midnight Wednesday, a man identified as 29-year-old Benjamin Macaskill of Bristol, CT, got out of a car near exit 20 on 495 South due to an argument. While walking in the center lane of the highway, he was hit by a tractor-trailer, according to the Massachusetts State Police. Macaskill was transported to Milford Hospital and later UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester where he died from injuries sustained in the incident.

State police did shut down the highway for a small period of time before reopening the left lane. The entire highway reopened at 3:43 a.m.

The operator of the car Kimberly Prescott, 25, of Bristol, CT, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor. She will be arraigned in Milford District Court this morning.

The truck driver has not been charged.
