Rhode Island Man Accused of Driving at Milford Officer Charged with Assault to Murder
Charges against the man include conspiracy, assault to murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon

A Rhode Island man was arrested by Milford police Monday night after allegedly driving over an officer’s foot.
Mark Briggs, 29, of Providence R.I., was charged with conspiracy, assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlicensed operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct, failure to stop for a police officer, and a marked lanes violations.

According to police, Briggs was escorting a 24-year-old woman named Janna Tardif from Milford who was advertised online as a prostitute. While the woman admitted that the two were planning on stealing money from a man they were going to meet and had done so three times already, Briggs fled the scene when approached by officers.
When he returned, he drove at an officer attempting to stop him and allegedly ran over his foot. The officer’s foot is alright, according to police.

He also refused to stop for a second group of detectives and was followed to Quinshipaug Road. After arriving at the dead end street, he fled on foot but was apprehended on Route 495 near exit 20 after fleeing down a bike trail
A canine responded from Holliston and a helicopter from the Massachusetts State Police assisted in the search.
Briggs was brought back to the scene after being arrested by a state trooper. He was transferred into the custody of the Milford Police Department.
