Police Probe 'Untimely' Death Of Milford Firefighter

MILFORD, MA — A longtime Milford firefighter died unexpectedly over the weekend, Chief William Touhey announced via social media on Monday. Patrick Evans, 37, died on Sunday, according to the department, and state police are looking into the incident.

Touhey called Evans' death "untimely," but deferred comment to the Worcester County District Attorney. The Worcester County District Attorney's office described Evans' passing as an "unattended death."

"The state police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office are investigating an unattended death in Milford. No other information will be released at this time," spokesman Tim Connolly said.

Evans, a married father of three, worked as a Milford firefighter and EMT for the past 13 years. Before Milford, he worked as a Hopedale dispatcher and reserve police officer. Evans also served on regional hazmat and technical rescue teams.
