Woodland Elementary Students Participate In Youth Art Month

Woodland students in grades 3-5 have their artwork hanging in State Transportation Building in Boston.

MILFORD, MA- Students from Milford's Woodland Elementary School, under the direction of art teachers Adrienne Delaney and Lisa Duarte, are representing the town in this year’s Youth Art Month Exhibit.

Students in grades K-12 from across Massachusetts have been selected to have their artwork displayed at the MA State Transportation Building in Boston as part of the exhibit, which is the only statewide exhibit featuring both public and private school K-12 student work.

The show will be open weekdays 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. through Mar. 27; admission is free.

The young Milford artists with work on display are:third-grade students Adam Tourtellot, Cameron Zicherman and Joseph Varandas; fourth-grade students Jayla Lewis, Ava Scioli and Carlos Basily Abdou; and fifth-grade students Livia Silva, Giovanna Weiner, Katelyn Kearnan and Manuela Ruby.

This year’s Youth Art Month theme is Your Art, Your Story and is sponsored by the Massachusetts Art Education Association (MAEA). Youth Art Month (YAM) is a national celebration endorsed by the Council for Art Education and the National Art Education Association (NAEA). This yearly celebration is held during March and emphasizes the value of art education for all children and encourages support for quality art programs in schools.
