MILFORD, MA — A local World War II vet will soon take a trip sponsored by a Milford nonprofit to Washington, DC, to visit war memorials — a journey called an "honor flight."

The Milford charity Thanks To Yanks is donating money to send Nicholas De Maria, 96, and his daughter, Jo-Ann Morgan, on the trip. Honor Flight is a Virginia-based nonprofit that organizes trips for World War II and Korean War veterans to see war memorials in the nation's capital.

"We are honored to support such a great cause," Thanks To Yanks founder Mike Shain said in a news release.
