• Maple Leaf Foods to close Turners Falls factory, consolidate to Indianapolis (atholdailynews.com) — Maple Leaf Foods is closing its Turners Falls factory in Montague over the next 12 to 18 months, putting roughly 120 to 150 local jobs at risk and cutting revenue to the town’s Clean Water Facility. Town officials are coordinating unemployment support, exploring new buyers for the food-processing-ready site, and working with state partners on potential reuse to preserve tax and employment benefits.
   

• Western Mass. residents urge Healey to intervene in Eversource plan (recorder.com) — Montague is one of several Franklin and Hampshire County towns where Eversource plans extensive tree removal along power line corridors, prompting residents to ask Gov. Maura Healey to intervene. A regional group argues the project would clear hundreds of acres, including sensitive habitats, and is pushing for more selective cutting while Eversource defends the plan as necessary for grid reliability.
