NATICK, MA — Record scratch, school can't be just around the corner can it? As the summer comes to an end, you'll want to mark your calendars for August 28 — the first day of school for Natick students.

Between back to school shopping, gathering school supplies and enjoying the last bit of summer, Patch knows it can be hard to find time to check those important school dates, so we've got you covered. Here are five key dates to keep in mind as the school year gets fired up:

First Day of School: For grades K-12 Aug. 28 is the first day of school. Note: Faculty meetings will be held during the three days leading up to the first day.

Thanksgiving Recess: Nov. 28 and 29. Note: Nov. 27 is a release day for all grades.

Winter Recess: Dec. 23-31, school is also closed on Jan. 1 for New Year's Day.

Spring Recess: April 20 through 24

Last Day of School: June 22, including five snow days.

Need to sign up for the school breakfast and lunch program? Here are the eligibility requirements and all the info to know:

    • All children in households receiving benefits from MA SNAP, MA TAFDC, or specific categories of Medicaid are eligible for free meals.
    • Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free meals.
    • Children participating in their school’s Head Start program are eligible for free meals.
    • Children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant are eligible for free meals.
    • Children may receive free or reduced price meals if your household’s income is within the limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. Your children may qualify for free or reduced price meals if your household income falls at or below the limits on this chart.
