NATICK, MA — People here and in other Massachusetts communities make an easy assumption when they call a 911 emergency hotline: Of course, first responders will know where I am.
“But errors happen,” the town of Natick said in a public notice Wednesday.
That’s why Natick is trying to update its database of resident addresses.
“Street name changes, new developments and data entry issues can mean your address in the system doesn't match your actual location,” the town said. With better information, the hope is, emergency responses will be better.
Natick officials are asking residents to check their addresses in the town database and make any necessary corrections.
The process is free, simple and takes about 2 minutes, the town said.
“This is truly a community effort,” the notice said, “and every correction helps make our emergency response stronger.”
